The purpose of this video game is to show the change in culture and enviorment for Native Americans before and after the gold rush around the 1850s.
Let's begin at [[home]].
You decide to hunt for Bear in your group...
[[Keep Hunting]]You decide to hunt for Elk with your group...
[[Keep Hunting]]The rivers all thruogh out you tribes land provide you with salmon and trout and shellfish to feed off of when game meat is not abundant.
[[Keep Fishing]]
[[Start Heading Back to Village]]
As the day goes on, you and your group have have no luck with finding game meats. You all stop at a creek and look at the various rivers that run through out the land of the cenral valley...
[[Fish]]You see another Miwok girl cross paths with you. She looks to be from another tribe based on her tatoos and probably speaks another Penutian language.
[[Ask Her Question]]
[[Don't Ask Her a Question]]On your way as you start heading back to the village, you see another Miwok girl cross paths with you. She looks to be from another tribe based on her tatoos and probably speaks another Penutian language.
[[Ask Her Question]]
[[Don't Ask Her a Question]] You see shes carrying a lot of food and you ask what did she "cultivate" for today. She tells you that she has collected buckeye nuts, mushrooms, various greens, roots, bulbs, and berries. You also remember that winter is coming soon and that these foods needed to be dried for the coming months.
[[Head Back to the Village]]She approaches you anyway...
[[Ask Her Question]] You settle in for the night in your tepe made of cedar tree bark. Life is good...
Winter comes and you live your life. You wait for spring.
[[Fast Forward]]After a while your start to notice white men around the land. These are not like the Spanish or Mexican non-Natives. The Spanish tried to convert all your people, while the Mexicans treated you as second class citizens.
But these new people have no respect for the enviorment. They are a new type of plague on the land of your ancestors.
[[Look at the Rivers]]As more and more of these men try to look for this new mineral they dam up the rivers that once flowed through the precios land that sustained your community.
With out the water and trees to support wild life, the food chain begins to break down. White men kill all the game meat and without rivers there is no fish.
[[What about Food?]]As the white man's animal grazing and envorimental alteration makes it very hard to cultivate the land like your ancestors did many years ago, you still need some way to eat. You know of other people in other clans who attempt to steal cattle and live stock from farms. Do you go with them to try and get food for the village?
[[Go Cow Boosting]] (steal a cow)
[[Think of Another Way]] You and a group of other hunters attemot to steal a cow for it's meat. You are sneakng past the wire fence one morning and moving with caution. "This is very risky" you tell yourself, but it is what you have to do to survive.
Then you hear [[something]]. Your people and the Maidu people have always knew where the gold was and you quickly realize that this gold that you see has no value, the white man craves.
You decide to get a job mining for [[gold]].It's the farmer of the house! He sees you and you freeze. You immediately begin to think abuot all your other brothers and clans that were caught and never saw the light of day again. It's fight or flight now.
[[Run!]]You and your people run for the woods but the white man has sent dogs after you... Every setp you take running make you think what are you running from... Are you running from a world that was once yours, a land once cultivated by your ancestors that is now lifeless and less abundant.
Is running from your problems now going to fix the pain or bring back the brothers sisters and family you have lost?
Eventuallly you and 2 other Miwok are [[caught]].The farmers and his assistants tie you down in the middle of the woods. They make you kneel on your knees facing away from them. You are first in line before your two brothers.
As the a pistol is cocked back right behind your head you imagine all you life growing up now changing since the invasion of these white man. Becuse you are fisrt to go you will not feel the pain of your brothers execution after you, but you wonder will the pain ever go away. Will this continue on
for generations, if your clan even lasts that long.
You accept that this is fate... You accept that the once abbundant land for yopur people is gone and may never come back... You accept that it's time to go [[home]]...
//Little green apples//You start to barely make a livivng just affording something to eat. In the town you see many other native americans work in the service sector to make ends meat as well.
You decide to stop at a bar and talk with a fello native.

You are a Miwok Native American in California. As you start your day you have to go and hunt for some food with your village. What do you decide to hunt?
[[Bear]]
[[Elk]]
[[Fish]]As some months go by your hear about these white men from the north(Orgen), but they are much different from the other men. These men are more dangerous and deadly because they have a vengance or something. As more and more Natives are replaced in the mines, you wonder if this is the begining of the [[end]]. This is the incomplete end to this story, for now...
